Access Is More Affordable than You May Think
ACS Web Subscription Policies
ACS Web subscription policies, effective 2006, define a current Web Edition subscription as access to articles published from 1996 onwards. This policy led to the creation of the ACS Legacy Archives, which provides full-text searching and instant access to all titles, volumes, issues, and articles published by the ACS from 1879 to 1995.
One-Time Payment Option
The ACS features a one-time payment option to access ACS Legacy Archives. This one-time payment option secures ongoing access rights to the Archives content. Customers who choose the one-time payment option access the Archives from ACS servers and are charged a nominal annual maintenance fee.
Access Fees
The annual access fee for a subscription to the ACS Legacy Archives and the one-time payment option to access the ACS Legacy Archives are dependent upon an evaluation of factors that includes size of the institution, number of sites, usage, and total ACS expenditure. We think you will be pleased at how affordable access can be for your institution. For specific pricing for your institution, please contact your ACS Account Manager.
Access Rights for One-Time Permanent Access Payments for the ACS Legacy Archives
ACS Publications will maintain the archive of journal articles published in PDF format between 1879 and 1995. ACS Publications has signed an archiving agreement with Portico, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to preserve scholarly literature published in electronic form and to ensure that these materials remain accessible to future scholars, researchers, and students. Portico's electronic archiving service was launched in 2005 with support provided by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Ithaka, The Library of Congress, and JSTOR. The agreement assures long-term preservation and ongoing access to electronic content from the journals of the ACS.
