Publication of Symposium-Based Books
with the American Chemical Society

The American Chemical Society has a long-standing reputation for high-quality publications that are well recognized within the scientific community. ACS Books publishes books that are developed from ACS symposia.

Symposium organizers are encouraged to consider developing an ACS Symposium Series book from their symposia. These volumes are designed to present recent advances within a field in one comprehensive book and to document the science presented at ACS meetings. Publication in the ACS Symposium Series

  • Provides a venue for rapid publication in areas that are changing and developing rapidly.
  • Augments the work the organizers have put into coordinating symposia.
  • Supports future funding of symposia by divisions from royalty revenues generated from sales.

Papers accepted for publication undergo peer review, conducted by the book editors, and final manuscripts are prepared in camera-ready format by the authors.

ACS Books encourages symposium organizers to consider the development of the symposium and the proposed book as parallel projects; this type of planning effects a better organized symposium and a book that provides comprehensive coverage of the topic.
