Jennifer C. Ma received her A.B. degree from Harvard University in 1993. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Caltech, working on artificial metalloenzymes and the substrate specificity and catalysis of metal-binding hosts.

Dennis A. Dougherty was born and raised in Pennsylvania, and received a BS/MS in 1974 from Bucknell University. He received a Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1978, working with Kurt Mislow, and this was followed by a year of postdoctoral work with Jerome Berson at Yale University.
