Abstract
This article focuses on an interesting topic, the origins of Moseley's conclusion that there was a whole number relationship in the frequencies of X-rays emitted from atoms after electron bombardment, i.e., the discovery of atomic numbers. It brings forth valid questions such as, 1) when does insight influence the analysis of data and 2) how does the accuracy of data available to researchers influence the subsequent data interpretation.
