Abstract
In the past five years the staff of the Physical Sciences Library at Cornell has developed an active formal instruction program for the new searcher. Much of this training was done through lectures based on the CAS materials provided through Searching STN: The Basics. Discussions with graduate students showed us that more advanced instruction was needed. The difficulty was finding a venue that would bring advanced searchers out of their labs for information education. After considerable thought, an advanced instruction curriculum was designed. Using the model of computer user groups that flourish in many academic settings, the "STN Users Meeting" was inaugurated in the Fall of 1993.
