Abstract
The use of inorganic molecular mechanics has increased dramatically in the last decade. In this article we review some of the main differences between inorganic molecular mechanics and organic molecular mechanics, and highlight some common errors that can be made.

Comparison of Methods to Obtain Force-Field Parameters for Metal Sites
LiHong Hu and Ulf RydeJournal of Chemical Theory and Computation2011 Article ASAPComparison of Methods to Obtain Force-Field Parameters for Metal Sites
LiHong Hu and Ulf RydeJournal of Chemical Theory and Computation2011 Article ASAPWe have critically examined and compared various ways to obtain standard harmonic molecular mechanics (MM) force-field parameters for metal sites in proteins, using the 12 most common Zn2+ sites as test cases. We show that the parametrization of metal ...

Molecular Mechanics Force Field for Octahedral Organometallic Compounds with Inclusion of the Trans Influence
Ivan Tubert-Brohman, Maurus Schmid and Markus MeuwlyJournal of Chemical Theory and Computation2009 5 (3), 530-539Molecular Mechanics Force Field for Octahedral Organometallic Compounds with Inclusion of the Trans Influence
Ivan Tubert-Brohman, Maurus Schmid and Markus MeuwlyJournal of Chemical Theory and Computation2009 5 (3), 530-539Efficient calculation of the properties of metal-containing complexes relevant to catalysis is of major interest for better characterizing and optimizing the catalysts. For this, a new force field, called VALBOND-TRANS here, is proposed. It is based on ...

Structure and Bonding in Group 14 Congeners of Ethene: DFT Calculations in the Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory
Bennett R. Streit and David K. GeigerJournal of Chemical Education2005 82 (1), 111Structure and Bonding in Group 14 Congeners of Ethene: DFT Calculations in the Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory
Bennett R. Streit and David K. GeigerJournal of Chemical Education2005 82 (1), 111A computational chemistry experiment for an advanced inorganic chemistry laboratory is described. DFT calculations are performed to determine the optimized geometries of compounds of the type H2E=EH2. Structural parameters are compared for E=C, Si, and ...

Moderating Influence of Proteins on Nonplanar Tetrapyrrole Deformations: Coenzyme F430 in Methyl-Coenzyme-M Reductase
Lindsay N. Todd and Marc ZimmerInorganic Chemistry2002 41 (25), 6831-6837Moderating Influence of Proteins on Nonplanar Tetrapyrrole Deformations: Coenzyme F430 in Methyl-Coenzyme-M Reductase
Lindsay N. Todd and Marc ZimmerInorganic Chemistry2002 41 (25), 6831-6837Methyl-coenzyme-M reductase (MCR) prevents 12,13-diepiF430 from undergoing nonplanar deformations; therefore, the protein favors F430 over the 12,13-diepimeric form. The diepimer is favored in solution. MCR also moderates the nonplanar deformations of ...

Mechanisms of Pentacoordinate Pseudorotation. A Molecular Modeling Study of PF5
Craig D. MontgomeryJournal of Chemical Education2001 78 (6), 844Mechanisms of Pentacoordinate Pseudorotation. A Molecular Modeling Study of PF5
Craig D. MontgomeryJournal of Chemical Education2001 78 (6), 844This exercise in molecular modeling allows students to compare the two commonly suggested mechanisms for pseudorotation in pentacoordinate compounds--the Berry and turnstile mechanisms. The evidence from single-point energies, vibrational calculations, ...
