The multifaceted potentialities of expanded pyridiniums (EPs), based on one pyridinium core bearing a 4-pyridyl or 4-pyridylium as the N-pyridinio group, are established at both experimental and theoretical levels. Two classes of head-to-tail (htt) EPs ...

      Journal of Chemical Education2007 84 (11), 1799

The synthesis of dyes has long been a popular topic in organic chemistry laboratory experiments because it allows students to see first hand that reactions learned in class can be used to make compounds with useful applications. In this experiment ...

      Langmuir2007 23 (4), 2261-2268

Solvatochromic Reichardt's dye has been covalently anchored to both aniline-functionalized and propylamine-functionalized SBA-15 mesoporous silicas. The former offers a rigid linker to the surface; the latter offers a flexible one. The optical properties ...

β-Nitroenamine having a formyl group behaves as the synthetic equivalent of unstable nitromalonaldehyde upon treatment with ketones under basic conditions and leads to 2,6-disubstituted 4-nitrophenols. The present method is safer than the conventional one ...
