Abstract

A model is presented to approximate the elctrostatic contribution to the entropy change of the reaction for aqueous lanthanide-aminocarboxylate complexes. The procedure is outlined using La(3+)-EDTA complexation to predict the entropy change per carboxylate, the entropy change per amine, and the total entropy change. Good agreement exists between experimental and theoretical values.
