Abstract
Because they involve grossly uneven weightings of points, the linear and formally similar double reciprocal Benesi-Hildebrand and Lineweaver-Burke plots should never be used to resolve equilibrium and enzyme kinetic results. In such plots weightings from one end to the other may vary as much as a thousand or more. More equal weightings of the experimental points may be obtained by utilizing the linear, single reciprocal Scott and Hanes plots. The most appropriate resolution is achieved by a non-linear least squares analysis with the most error prone observable expressed as a function of all other variables and parameters.

An Improved Method for Studying the Enzyme-Catalyzed Oxidation of Glucose Using Luminescent Probes
Matthew Cuber and J. N. Demas , William D. Bare and Chi V. PhamJournal of Chemical Education2007 84 (9), 1511An Improved Method for Studying the Enzyme-Catalyzed Oxidation of Glucose Using Luminescent Probes
Matthew Cuber and J. N. Demas , William D. Bare and Chi V. PhamJournal of Chemical Education2007 84 (9), 1511A new method is presented for measuring the rate of the oxidation of glucose in the presence of glucose oxidase. The improved method employs luminescence measurements to directly determine the concentration of oxygen in real time, thus obviating ...

Understanding Enzyme Inhibition
Raymond S. OchsJournal of Chemical Education2000 77 (11), 1453Understanding Enzyme Inhibition
Raymond S. OchsJournal of Chemical Education2000 77 (11), 1453While enzyme inhibition is a widely taught subject across chemical and biochemical disciplines, it remains poorly understood. A mental image is presented to facilitate the understanding of inhibition types other than competitive. Subsequently, enzyme ...
