Abstract
1997 Nobel Prize in Chemistry went to Paul D. Boyer and John E. Walker for elucidation of the mechanism of action of ATP synthase, which catalyzes the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate; and Jens C. Skou for the first discovery of an ion-transporting enzyme, Na+,K+-ATPase. The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for 1997 went to Stanley B.
