Abstract

The terms lattice, unit cell, translation unit cell, and Wigner–Seitz cell are defined an discussed, and their relationships to reciprocal lattice and Federov and Plato solids are addressed. Emphasis is directed to a usage of each term in a manner that respects its traditional usage, but within a clearly defined and unique context.
