Abstract

In 1997, the NSF undertook a major change in the nature and the timetable for their undergraduate grant programs. The three major components of their mission-undergraduate instruction, technical education, and teacher preparation- are now the organizing themes for the three major types of funding in DUE. One of these, the Course, Curriculum, and Laboratory Instruction (CCLI) initiative, has a deadline this fall, with a closing date of November 16, 1998. To normalize the review and funding cycle, NSF will also have a closing date of June 7, 1999, to be followed by an annual June deadline thereafter.
