Qualitative Analysis in the Beginning Organic Laboratory

Abstract

We present arguments for the continued inclusion of qualitative analysis in the undergraduate organic laboratory curriculum. We have developed a problem-solving approach to the teaching of these laboratory courses. Judging from student comments, this approach is particularly successful in qualitative analysis.
