Abstract

This manuscript documents the evolution of a general chemistry laboratory program that uses data acquisition equipment in all its introductory lab sections. The review shares the successes and failures encountered in the implementation of computers in a laboratory program for 850 students. The history of the project reflects the changing technologies, software and hardware, available for application in the laboratory. The eight-year project not only altered the experimental nature of the labs but the pedagogy of the laboratory experience as well.
