Abstract

The arrival of the new millennium focused many thoughts on change. What will be different? What will remain the same? How pervasive and long-lasting will changes be? These were just a few of the questions discussed at the symposium Teaching General Chemistry in the New Century. It brought together a broad selection of teachers and students who exemplified the variety of changes in methodology being implemented in general chemistry. Those involved characterized the opportunity for change as both exciting and fearsome.
