Abstract
Students study a structure made from Lego blocks for several minutes. After this examination, during which no notes or drawings are made, they attempt to build the structure without looking at the original. During a second examination of the structure, students are allowed to write instructions in words for the building of the structure. After the instructions have been written, they are passed along to another student, who then attempts to recreate the structure using the instructions, without looking at the original. Comparison of the recreated structures to the original helps to illustrate some important concepts of laboratory report writing.
