Using Periodate with Nitrite Solutions for Capillary Electrophoresis

Abstract

The lack of nitrites in drinking water samples suspected of containing this contamination could be due to their oxidation to nitrates by sodium periodate, a strong oxidizer and internal standard used in sample preparation.
