Abstract

This puzzle embeds 41 terms and acronyms that describe the mitochondrial pathways used to make energy available in aerobic organisms. The terms are arranged in a 15 x 15-letter matrix. A narrative below the matrix describes important features of the pathways. The terms a student needs to find are given here as clues with underlined spaces to be filled with letters. When all the terms are found, the 21 unused letters in the matrix complete a sentence that describes the chemical basis for life.
