Abstract

An overview of Gibbs's treatment of interfaces is given, with emphasis on curved interfaces. In particular, the derivation of the pivotal equation he uses to determine the location of the Gibbs dividing surface in which the curvature constants vanish is discussed. There is little detail as to how Gibbs derives his equation.
