Abstract

Two long-standing errors in published point group character tables are examined. The first is the assignment in the S₈ point group of (R_x, R_y) to the E₁ irreducible representation rather than E₃. The second is a reversal of column labeling of 2S_S and 2S₈³ classes in the D_8h group character table. These errors may trace back to 1955 and 1971 publications, respectively.
