Abstract

The annual Posters on the Hill event sponsored by the Council on Undergraduate Research gives undergraduate students an opportunity to participate in the civic responsibilities that are a crucial component of research and scholarship. With advice from Representative Vernon J. Ehlers (R-MI) and Dr. John Marburger, Science Advisor to the President and Director of the Office of Science and Technology, this year's participants were well-informed and enthusiastic advocates for the importance of federal investment in undergraduate research. Co-scheduled with the American Chemical Society's annual Public Service Awards ceremony, the poster session on Capitol Hill showcased both the scholarly achievements of young scientists and the outstanding career contributions of those dedicated to the development of public policy that benefits science and our Nation.
