Abstract

Abstract Image

Two strategies for the synthesis of cyclopenta[a]phenalenes are described. NMR, X-ray diffraction, and cyclic voltammetry studies of simple alkyl- and aryl-substituted derivatives are reported for the first time.

Uttam K. Tambar, Taichi Kano, John F. Zepernick, and Brian M. Stoltz
      The Journal of Organic Chemistry2006 71 (22), 8357-8364

The natural product saudin was found to induce hypoglycemia in mice and, therefore, could be an appealing lead structure for the development of new agents to treat diabetes. A diastereoselective tandem Stille-oxa-electrocyclization reaction has been ...

Cyril Bressy, Dino Alberico, and Mark Lautens
      Journal of the American Chemical Society2005 127 (38), 13148-13149

A norbornene-mediated palladium-catalyzed tandem alkylation/C−H functionalization sequence is described, in which an alkyl−aryl bond and a heteroaryl−aryl bond are formed in one pot. A variety of highly substituted six- and seven-membered ring annulated ...

Stepan Chuprakov, Michael Rubin, and Vladimir Gevorgyan
      Journal of the American Chemical Society2005 127 (11), 3714-3715

The first examples of direct palladium-catalyzed arylation and heteroarylation of cyclopropenes have been demonstrated. This method allows for efficient synthesis of various tetrasubstituted cyclopropenes, incuding nonracemic cyclopropenes, which are not ...

      Mark Lautens and Yuan-Qing Fang
      Organic Letters2003 5 (20), 3679-3682

The catalytic combination of Pd2(dba)3/HP(t-Bu)3·BF4 and DABCO gives an unusual intramolecular Heck reaction with dihydronaphthalene substrates, yielding formal anti-hydride elimination products in good to excellent yields under mild conditions. For ...
