Abstract

Abstract Image

The reaction of the internal alkynyl ketones 1 (n = 1) under the combined catalyst, AuCl3 and AgSbF6, gave the enones 2 in good to high yields, whereas that of the terminal alkynyl ketones 1 (n = 0) under the combined catalyst, AuCl3 and AgOTf, afforded the cyclic enones 3.

      Organic Letters2011 13 (5), 1234-1237

A six step synthesis of (±)-7-hydroxylycopodine has been achieved in 5% overall yield. In the key step, a Prins cyclization of a bicyclic keto alkyne in 60% H2SO4 forms a tricyclic dihydroxy amino ketone.
