Abstract

Ytterbium trifluoromethanesulfonate [Yb(OTf)₃] catalyzed the imino ene reaction of N-tosyl aldimine with α-methylstyrene to give a homoallylamine in moderate yield. Furthermore, addition of a catalytic amount of chlorotrimethylsilane (TMSCl) dramatically enhanced the imino ene reaction.
