James B. Hendrickson is a professor of chemistry
at Brandeis University (Waltham, MA 02454-9110; 781-736-2520;
JBH@JBH.chem.brandeis.edu).
Previously, he was on the staff at
UCLA, where he developed research programs in synthetic chemistry and
in these applications of chemistry to the computer. Some 40 of his 150
research papers have been concerned with the latter field. He has
a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Harvard, where he studied under R. B.
Woodward.
