Global pollution lawsuits

Countries with records of large-scale industrial pollution such as the United States and the United Kingdom could soon find themselves the subject of lawsuits by smaller, underdeveloped countries, according to a study commissioned by the New Economics Foundation, a London-based think tank. Underdeveloped countries like Bangladesh, whose climate has been affected by global warming, fear that without tougher regulation, the waste policies of nations that have large industrial markets may become uncontrollable, according to the study. —WILDER DAMIAN SMITH
