Sustainability: Not just for the rich

It pays for businesses in developing countries and emerging markets to improve their environmental performance, according to Sustainability, international business consultants specializing in sustainable development. In Developing Value: The Business Case for Sustainability in Emerging Markets, the organization presents more than 240 real-life examples of profitable and sustainable business projects from more than 60 countries. The case studies range from a small Latvian dairy to an ecotourism outfit in Peru to an aluminum smelter in Mozambique. The report, which was produced in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation, the private sector arm of the World Bank, calls for more pressure on companies with poor environmental performance.
