The caspases are a family of cysteine proteases that are expressed in mammalian cells in an inactive procaspase form but cleave a wide variety of substrates upon proteolytic activation. After induction of apoptosis, proteolytic cleavage of procaspase-3 generates an active,18-kDa caspase-3 fragment that targets key modulators of the apoptotic pathway. This antibody recognizes the active 18-kDa fragment but not the 32-kDa procaspase-3.

Purified bovine rotavirus antigen is strain MR, group A, and may be used as a positive control or immunogen.
