About the Cover:

The functioning of neurotransmitting chemicals in the human nervous system is the subject of an article by Veca and Dreisbach beginning on page 108. The two neurons shown on the cover are in the back portion of the crayfish nervous system and were photographed by ionopheretically depositing an electrically charged dye, lucifer yellow, in the cells. The dye fluoresces under ultraviolet light, allowing this dramatic photograph to be produced.
