Field-emission scanning electron micrograph (FESEM) of carbon nanotubules. These structures were grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) through the pyrolysis of methane onto iron-doped alumina catalyst particles. Depending on the deposition conditions, a variety of nanotube diameters and morphologies may be obtained. See the article "Chemical Vapor Deposition of Carbon Nanotubes.
