About the Cover:
Images from Apollo 17, the final lunar landing mission. Lift-off of the Apollo 17 took place at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on December 17, 1972. Scientist-astronaut Harrison Schmitt, Apollo 17 lunar module pilot, used an adjustable sampling scoop to retrieve lunar samples at the Taurus-Littrow landing site. The full disc of the Moon was photographed by the Apollo 17 crew on their return to Earth. The Apollo moon missions can be used to teach chemical principles, as discussed in the article "Teaching Chemistry Using From the Earth to the Moon" by James G. Goll and Stacie L. Mundinger (pp 292-293).
