In the laboratory article, "An Improved Method for Studying the Enzyme-Catalyzed Oxidation of Glucose Using Luminescent Probes", Bare, Pham, Cuber, and Demas describe an improved method for studying the enzyme-catalyzed oxidation of glucose using luminescent probes. This month's cover shows a three-dimensional structure of glucose oxidase from Aspergillus niger (PDB ID 1CF3; H. J. Hect and H. Kalisz) as visualized by MacPyMOL (W. L. Delano). The flavin adenine dinucleotide cofactor is yellow, and a cartoon representation of the secondary structure is blue at the amino-terminus and green at the carboxy-terminus of the protein. The molecular surface is rendered in transparent violet.
