The cover caption reads as follows: “‘Art is freedom of imagination and Science is a way of thinking’. Chemical industry is the intersection of science and art, especially in the extreme condition. Knowledge of high-pressure phase equilibria is a source of inspiration for designing chemical industry.”

As the recipient of the Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data Early Career Award, Dr. Tiwikrama will receive a plaque and honorarium of US$2,000. The presentation of the Early Career Award will occur in a Lectureship Awards webinar series organized by ACS Publications and JCED in May 2024. The Lectureship Awards webinar series will feature a talk by the honoree on current research. Further details of the Lectureship Awards webinar series will be forthcoming in an ACS Axial posting. All readers of JCED and members of the phase equilibria and thermophysical properties community are warmly invited to attend.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Ardila Hayu Tiwikrama on this well-deserved honor!

The Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data Early Career Award is presented annually to one outstanding early career scientist/engineer conducting experimental or computational research in thermophysical properties and phase equilibria. For this award, “early career researcher” is defined as a graduate student, postdoctoral researcher, or practicing scientist/engineer no more than 12 years from receipt of their B.S. degree (or equivalent) at the time of the nomination deadline. Anyone who has taken an official leave of absence may subtract that time from these limits.

The requirements for applying for this award are as follows:

  • Qualify as an early career researcher as defined above

  • Be an active researcher in thermochemical properties and phase equilibria (e.g., mentorship/supervision of students or technicians, presentations at scientific conferences or workshops, outreach to the broader community)

  • Have been first and/or corresponding author on at least three papers in JCED, one of which must have been published during the two calendar years immediately preceding the year in which the award will be presented.

In closing, we also welcome four new members of JCED’s Early Career Board: Ingrid Azevedo de Oliveira (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Carsten Wedler (Imperial College London, United Kingdom), Tae Jun Yoon (Chungnam National University, South Korea), and Wanxiang Zhang (Beijing University of Chemical Technology, China).
