    AMERICA'S Most Cosmopolitan City" "Bagdad by the Golden Gate," "the City that Knows How," "the Fabulous Metropolis and Cultural Capital of the West," and a number of other terms have been used to describe San Francisco. Although even Texans secretly admit that all these glowing encomiums are merited, it would not be fitting for a chemical newsmagazine to editorialize or make statements without documentation or factual data.

    We are not coming right out and saying that anyone who misses the 115th national meeting of the AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY in San Francisco March 27 through April 1 is missing an experience of a lifetime. It is true, of course, but we mustn't say it in so many words.

    As scientists, you chemists and chemical engineers will naturally be most interested in the technical program. And it is a complete one: 16 divisions; 670 papers.
