    Abstract

Densities, ρ, dynamic viscosities, η, refractive indices, nD, and heat capacities, Cp, for the binary mixtures containing two poly(propylene glycols) (Mn = 1335 and Mn = 2004) and two block-copolymers [poly(ethylene)−poly(propylene)−poly(ethylene)] (Mn = 1220 and Mn = 2280) + 2-methyltetrahydrofuran were determined at (298.15 and 313.15) K and at atmospheric pressure using an Anton Paar density meter, a Schott-Geräte AVS viscometer, an Abbe refractometer, and a Perkin-Elmer differential scanning calorimeter. Volume variations, ΔV, and deviations of the dynamic viscosities, Δη, were obtained at these temperatures and are negative for all mixtures. Experimental data were fitted to the Redlich−Kister equation, and the adjustable parameters and the standard deviations between experimental and calculated values were estimated. Conclusions were qualitatively discussed in terms of molecular interactions.
